More info on Can-Con 2017 here.

I was asked to be on the Books You Should Have Read in 2017 panel but most of the reading I did in 2017 was outside of genre, as I was a juror for the Ottawa Independent Writers’ Frank Hegyi Award, a national award for emerging authors.

I transferred to Collaborative Creating, which is a better fit for me as I have worked on multi-disciplinary projects with playwrights, theatre collectives, filmmakers, illustrators, choreographers, installation artists, and in some cases, several of the above at once. Projects I’ve been part of have toured art and film festivals and been sold to television.

I also have a signing slot from 12:00 – 12:30 with Charles de Lint. Charles and I were co-panelists at Prose in the Park in the spring of 2016. He also wrote a lovely endorsement for my 2013 novel, The Alphabet Stones. The Alphabet Stones was published by Blue Denim Press and long-listed for the ReLit Award.

The Chapters booth in the Dealers’ Room will have copies of my new book, the near future YA novella Mountain, as well as The Alphabet Stones. I will bring personal copies of Harvesting the Moon, my 2014 story collection from PS Publishing in the UK, as well as a few copies of the gorgeously produced After the Fires, published by Tightrope in 2008. ATF was shortlisted for an Aurora Award, and received an Honourable Mention from the Sunburst jury.

Below you will find writer Fiona Campbell and me at the Women Write Across Genre event at The Theatre on King in Peterborough last month. There have been several events in the terrific Women Write series, sponsored by Inanna Publications. I especially enjoy the Peterborough events, when we bring Toronto women authors to Peterborough to exchange ideas with local writers. The wonderful image is by Andy Carroll and you can find out more about him here.
